Greenland...
.
Visiting Ilimaussaq, Kvanefjeld, Taseq, Narssarssuk, finding Tugtupite, icebergs everywhere...
Who does not want to experience this dream?
But... Greenland is not for the faint of heart... Getting there and getting around demands time, patience and luck. And a good physical condition... We might even say that Greenland is best enjoyed if you mix mineralogy, hiking, photography, love for wild unspoiled nature and need for quiet... In Greenland you always win, unless you only focus on minerals.

Greenland is a big, very big, paradise. So big that it takes either 4-5 weeks to get around, or it takes difficult choices. Yes, even in paradise there are choices... With local small airplane or chopper flights, many localities can be reached. Some localities can only be reached by boat, and only a handful can be reached by 4x4 (simply because there are no roads...).
A lot in Greenland is uncertain. Difficult logistics. Finding possibilities can change rapidly. Weather can change from 30 degrees Celsius to snowstorms in a few hours. Ice can block harbors leaving us stuck for days. Choppers may not fly because of bad weather. But all that is part of the adventure... We will manage to find solutions with our local partners. As we did before...
Greenland has an unexpected bag of surprises if you're open to receive them. The local food is superb and special. The people are heartwarming. A boatride between the stranded icebergs in the Qooroq icefjord is a dream. Falling asleep on the boat back to Narsarsuaq is as good as yoga. Drinking a red Martini with 1.000 year old ice in it (shaken, not stirred please) is an unforgettable treat! Visiting the old Norse ruins at Qassiarsuk is a beautiful daytrip, so is visiting the colorful villages of Igaliku and Qaqortoq. There is a lot to see and do in Greenland. Let's not forget Disko-island, Ivittuut, Malmbjerg, Nalunaq, Narssarssuk etc.
But in Greenland it's also an adventure to do nothing. Just sit down in the sun for a few hours (or a day) and watch the ice move. And hear the icebergs break. Dress warm, go out for a long walk in the evening and watch the sun go down, and up, and down: see the sun bouncing off the horizon. Experience lonelyness and beautiful quiet...
.
Some things are for sure: Greenland is warmer than Iceland. Greenland has more ice than Iceland. Greenland has an incredible suite of interesting minerals to be found.

And... Greenland is a beautiful and an unforgettable experience.
.
The best time to join us in Greenland is july/august, depending of the amount of ice in the fjords...
