We don't like old news, so we don't have any older news than this ;)
December 2012 - march 2013
Don't think we did nothing... A lot of travelling, mineral fairs, diapers and family time ;)
Back from a two-week drive through Portugal and Spain! Visited the Preguiça mine in Portugal, seven mines between Granada and Barcelona, two mineral dealers and of course the beautiful Alhambra and Sagrada Familia. Tapas, minerals, cerveza, mines, palmtrees and culture: beautiful mix... Although we don't have time to shoot mineral pictures at the moment, we take orders from our mineral list!
Back from a trip in Germany, Switzerland, Italy and France, with.... beautiful specimens of type locality Braunite and Piemontite with nice red "Alurgite" and violett "Violan" (etc) (all Prabornaz mine underground. Also found new specimens of Faujasite-Na/Mg at the Limberg type locality for you (found underground!). And... we have very nice Diaphorite with Boulangerite from Borgofranco underground. If we have Tubulite? Time+analyses will tell ;) Although we don't have time to shoot pictures at the moment, we take orders!
Back from family summer holidays in France with Juul. Less exotic travelling than usual, but hey, life is not usual anymore :) We have nice specimens to offer now from the Rivet quarry ("Marmatite" Sphalerite (etc) and... *floater* specimens to 3 cm large consisting of hundreds of Pyrolusite crystals (PXRD-analysed). And... we have European Crocoite with Pyromorphite from Nontron/France now (found underground). Our other finds from France (really rare minerals, no photographs on Mindat yet), are still being analysed. More on that later :)
This is the beautiful reason that Mineraltravel.com has been quiet lately.
Please welcome Juul! Born may 1, doing super just like his mother and keeping us all nicely busy. Juul is the best reason I can think of, to keep us from travelling so much.
But: duty will call again, so expect some new minerals to come online ;)
The year started with a boom!in Bolivia and Switzerland. We visited at least one mineral locality per day, and are now preparing for a few weeks in Tucson. Nice times ahead... CY!
Dream your life, live your dreams ;)
While we are travelling between Europe, Japan and Bolivia in december: we wish you all a travel happy healthy lovely 2012!
Back from trips in Germany and Switzerland. With interesting TL-minerals, of course :) Example: Faujasite-xx from the classical TL in the Kaiserstuhl. Drop us an email for more details.
No news. No news?! No news ;) We were travelling around, visiting mineral fairs, creating a baby-room. Doing the kind of things that make life beautiful...
Back from Switzerland and Italy with rare&ugly&new&nice specimens of Preiswerkite from the type-locality at the Geisspfadpass (to 6cm large nodules!), Niobian-Anatase (!) from the Fleschsee, Chromite with Barium-Phlogopite from the Finero complex and some rare Mn-minerals from the Schmorrasgrat. More later when analyses are finished. Don't hesitate to contact us when you're interested ;)
Adranosite-(Fe): if you're a systematic collector looking for it: we have it...! We found it first in 2005, after which Dr.Uwe Kolitsch and Dr.Franz Brandstätter described it as a new phase in 2007. Now, in 2011, Donatella Mitolo et al. are publishing it as a new mineral. If you want a specimen: contact us ;) O yes: and we were two weeks in Switzerland and found some rare Mn-V-As-minerals. You know where to find us if you're interested, analyses are still running ;)
Thanks to everyone who stopped by our table in Ste.Marie-aux-Mines. You made it a super mineral fair for us! We had a lot of fun during the long days at our side of the table, and very enjoyable evenings. See you in Poland next week, San Francisco, on our travels and... in Munich in the 'guests from overseas section' in hall A6!
One half of us is just back from 3 weeks in France, Italy & Switzerland and the other half of us from California & Japan (and back in Japan as we speak). Of course we brought back rare and ugly minerals. If you ask for it at our table 8 in hall VE2 in Ste.Marie-aux-Mines, you will get a glass of Genepy ;) But if you can't wait that long, then contact us and ask for more details.
We found the best Lannonite we've ever seen at the Anna mine, combined with Thermessaite, "Unnamed NH4-Thermessaite", Adranosite, "Unnamed Fe-Adranosite", "Unnamed MgAl-Sulphate", Görgeyite and beautiful Clairite+Metavoltine. We'll be bringing it to Ste.Marie-aux-Mines of course. But if you can't wait that long to buy them, then contact us.
We were in Italy again (it was warm&spring there already ;) and returned from the Paglio Pignolino with very cool&nice Smithsonite pseudomorph after Calcite (to ca.5cm long), with small Hemimorphite, Wulfenite and Greenockite crystals grown on top of those pseudomorphs. Interesting material... If you're interested, contact us, and we'll reserve you a specimen.
We just returned from Italy (Brosso mine, Balangero quarry etc), with superb Canavesite (TL Brosso!) on Ludwigite-matrix with Dypingite, Inderite, Nesquehonite, Szaibélyite etc. Also nice pseudomorphs from Szaibélyite after Ludwigite. If you're interested, contact us, and we'll send you a specimen.
January 2011: One of us was preparing for Tucson (of course ;) -> We're @ Hotel Tucson City Center room 340! And the better half of us was travelling in Switzerland and Italy (underground)... We returned home safe, and with nice minerals for you ;)
November 2010: back from three weeks Switzerland. Visited 17 mines and found rare Y-minerals underground, secondary Uranyl Sulphates with Uraninite, Lead-Silver-minerals, Chamosite from the old typelocality high up in the Alps, Erythrite, Cobaltite etc in an old Iron-Cobalt mine, etc. Click here for fresh pictures on Facebook.
Inbetween: attended mineral fairs in Denver, Franklin/NJ, New York, Tokyo, Munich, and we were in Spain, Germany etc. We cannot sit still. Don't worry.
